The System-Risk Conferene 2019 "Flood hazard and risk: Interactions, temporal changes and system approaches" has been the final event of the European Training Network System-Risk. The aim of this international symposium was to bring together flood risk researchers and practitioners from research institutes, authorities, the insurance industry and consultancy. With more than 70 participants it provided an excellent opportunity to share new insights and developments and offered a forum to discuss the uptake of these findings in risk management including the implementation process of the European Flood Directive.
The conference involved remarkable keynote lectures from Johan Rockstöm (PIK), Ortwien Renn (IASS), Chris Kilsby (Newcastle University) and Peter Salamon (JRC) addressing tiping points, cascading events, as well as frontiers of multi-scale modeling approaches and challenges of flood risk management in Europe.
The presentations and posters are available for download (given the consent of the authors to make the contents publicly accessible).
The System-Risk consortium thanks all speakers, presenters and participants for their contributions which has made this conference a successful and rewarding event. We expressly acknowledge the support from the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 676027.
